New York, NY – December 15, 2014 – Multi-faceted, full service boutique media firm BYSTORM ENTERTAINMENT is proud to announce a successful 2014 for the rapidly growing company.

ByStorm Entertainment, which was founded by iconic music industry entrepreneur and CEO Mark Pitts and his business partner, ByStorm COO/President Wayne Barrow, specializes in Artist Management, Publishing, Film and Television, Record label (a joint venture with RCA/Sony Music Entertainment), technology and new business ventures (clothing line/marketing). The powerhouse firm’s roster includes J. Cole on the management side while the label imprint includes Miguel, Mali Music, Luke Christopher, Treasure Davis, History In The Making and Carter Park. Known for fostering and helping develop young talent and guiding them as they grow to become global powerhouse brands, as they have in the past for Usher, Chris Brown, Nas, and of course The Notorious B.I.G., the firm continues to prosper and grow exponentially.

ByStorm Entertainment, who has managed J. Cole since the beginning of his career, will end the fruitful year on a high with the music industry’s biggest Hip Hop release. J. Cole’s third studio album, 2014 Forrest Hills Drive (Roc Nation/Columbia), is set to debut at #1 on the Billboard Album Charts this week with projected sales making it the largest opening week for a rap album this year.  Cole’s innovative and impactful album campaigns separate him from the antiquated and traditional chain of thought for releasing music. Mark Pitts and his team continue to support Cole and his DreamVille team’s creative vision and execution of one-of-a-kind, unprecedented album releases. By choosing to forgo the traditional album release campaign, they were able to create an intimate experience that connected the artist to fans on a deeper, more personal and organic level. Side-stepping the hype machine and any pre-release context, the campaign was designed so that the album could be digested as one whole, inclusive, personal experience from start to finish without tainting fan perception. A success all around, besides garnering massive sales, the album is quickly becoming J. Cole’s most critically acclaimed project.

The firm is also proud to congratulate its artists on their ten GRAMMY nominations. Singer-songwriter Mali Music received two nominations, including one in the category of Best Urban Contemporary Album for his critically acclaimed 2014 album Mali Is…, which was released on May 17 via ByStorm’s joint venture with RCA. One of the album’s standouts, “I Believe,” received a nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song. Billboard has called Mali Music a “deeply talented singer-songwriter” while Rolling Stone dubbed him “one of the most promising soul singers to emerge in the last decade.” Additionally, ByStorm CEO Mark Pitts received his first GRAMMY nomination as a writer. Pitts is nominated for Best R&B Song for co-writing Chris Brown’s “New Flame” featuring Usher and Rick Ross. Usher received four GRAMMY nominations, including two for Best R&B Performance (“Good Kisser” and for Chris Brown’s “New Flame”) and two for Best R&B song (“Good Kisser” and “New Flame.”). Chris Brown received three GRAMMY nominations, with his album “X” up for Best Urban Contemporary Album and “New Flame” nominated for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance.

“I’m very blessed to work with the quality of artists and music we present to the world,” says Mark Pitts. “I’m proud to share their joy, pain, their failures and success, because it is measured through the emotion exuded in the purity of music and truth of their self-reflection. ByStorm Entertainment is not changing direction, we are directing the change.”

Looking ahead to an exciting 2015, upcoming initiatives for ByStorm Entertainment include the release of the anticipated third album by GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter Miguel. The album, which is the follow up to his breakout Kaleidoscope Dream, will be out during the first half of the year on ByStorm/RCA. ByStorm will also release the debut studio album of buzzed-about rapper, singer, and producer Luke Christopher, who recently released his latest mixtape TMRW TMRW PART II to acclaim. Next year will also see releases from History In The Making, Treasure Davis, Ro James and Carter Park.
